Gérald Gagnier
Gérald "Ray D'Ièse" Gagnier (born October 14, 1926 in Montreal , † January 14, 1961 Montreal) was a Canadian composer , trumpeter and conductor .
The son of the musician René Gagnier attended the Séminaire de Trois-Rivières from 1939 to 1945 and then studied at the Conservatoire de musique du Québec until 1951 . He also attended summer courses with Pierre Monteux for three years . He was then a trumpeter in the Canadian Grenadier Guards Band and taught at Studio Labelle from 1946 to 1949 .
With the rank of lieutenant , he led various military bands, including the Fusiliers du Mont-Royal in the early 1950s and the Corps des magasins militaires royal canadien from 1956 to 1961 . In between he was deputy director of the Opéra national du Québec in 1951 .
Gagnier composed a. a. the symphonic poem Polyphème , a Prelude for piano, a Suite romantique for strings and the Rolandineries for piano.
