Gérard Calvi (born July 26, 1922 in Paris ; † February 20, 2015 there ; born: Grégoir Krettly ) was a French composer.
Life
Gérard Calvi studied at the Paris Conservatory and won the Prix de Rome in 1956 . He composed more than 300 chansons, a. a. for Frank Sinatra , Liza Minnelli and Trini Lopez , chamber music and symphonic works. But above all he became known as a film music composer . He wrote one of the most famous cartoon themes with the Asterix Theme .
Calvi was involved in the French society for authors' rights SACEM , of which he was director from 1970 to the end of the 1990s.
