The Görtowsee is located in the Mecklenburg Lake District and is about 8 kilometers west of Neustrelitz .
The lake belongs to the Neustrelitz Kleinseenland and is part of the Müritz National Park . The bank is wooded. The size of the lake is about 1.1 kilometers in length and up to 350 meters in width. The inflow is on the west bank and comes over the Havel from Jäthensee . The outflow of the Görtowsee is located on the southwestern bank. Here the Havel connects the Görtowsee with the Zierzsee and the Useriner See .
