Göttingen Campus

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Göttingen Campus is an amalgamation of the Georg August University of Göttingen including the University Medical Center Göttingen and eight non-university, local research centers, five of which are Max Planck Institutes , in order to jointly promote research, teaching and training for young scientists.

history

The Göttingen Campus was built up by its members in a long-term collaboration. It all started with joint International Max Planck Research Schools , followed by the establishment of joint institutions such as the European Neuroscience Institute. The cooperation was formally confirmed for the first time when the coordinating body “Göttingen Campus Council” (formerly Göttingen Research Council) was set up in 2006. The Göttingen Campus Council identifies campus-wide research priorities and encourages collaboration between campus members.

Goal setting

The Göttingen Campus strives to further improve the quality of research and teaching, and to use synergies in the areas of management, administration and infrastructures. Equality, diversity and family friendliness are to be promoted in order to create ideal working conditions for academic and academic support staff. In future, the collaboration between campus members is to be further intensified. It is planned to develop joint research associations and to further expand the use of site-specific infrastructure.
