Götz Bickelhaupt

Götz Bickelhaupt (born June 9, 1928 , † November 30, 1987 ) was a German Evangelical Lutheran pastor .

Life

After completing his university entrance qualification , he studied Protestant theology and then became vicar in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Thuringia . In 1950 he was appointed parish priest ordained . Since 1955 he worked as a parish priest in Lauscha (Thuringian Forest). He wanted to convince his community members to accept the socialist social conditions in the GDR . Bickelhaupt was a member of the GDR CDU . In addition, he was one of the founders of the state-affiliated Evangelical Pastors' Association in the GDR , which he chaired for several years. He was also a co-founder of the monthly magazine Standpunkt and published articles in the magazine he co- edited and in publications of the CDU. Götz Bickelhaupt belonged to the group of interpreters of a Bible edition that was published in 1961 by Burkhardthaus-Verlag.

Bickelhaupt was a member of the Christian Peace Conference and participated in some of the six All-Christian Peace Assemblies that were held in Prague .

Götz Bickelhaupt was the father of the journalist Thomas Bickelhaupt and the pastor Michael Bickelhaupt.
