Günter Bartnicki (born April 2, 1932 in Berlin-Wilmersdorf ) is a former German football player. In the 1950s he played in the GDR Oberliga , the top division in GDR football , for the BSG Einheit Ost Leipzig , the SC Empor Rostock and the BSG Lokomotive Standal .

Athletic career

Günter Bartnicki began his career in the GDR league in the 1954/55 season at the age of 22 with the company sports community (BSG) Einheit Ost Leipzig. Between the 2nd and 7th matchday he was used in four matches both in attack and defense. In November 1954 the newly founded SC Empor Rostock took over the league team of BSG Empor Lauter . Since not all Lauterer players made the move, the team was supplemented by other footballers, including Günter Bartnicki, who played the first league game of SC Empor as a striker on November 14, 1954 (SC Empor - Chemie Karl-Marx 0: 0). After that, he was only used in two other league games. It was not until the 1956 season (changed to the calendar year rhythm) that Bartnicki reappeared in the league, now playing for the BSG Lokomotive Stendal. Coach Gerhard glasses let him appear as defender in 22 of the 26 league games. This was initially also the case in the 1957 season, only when striker Kurt Weißenfels failed after the 9th game day, Bartnicki took over his position, which he had to give up to Siegfried Tröger after four missions . After the 15th matchday, Bartnicki, who had previously played 36 point games for Stendal, was no longer used in the league. For the 1959 season he appeared as a player in the upper league relegated BSG Rotation Babelsberg . There Bartnicki was active in the second-rate GDR league until the end of the 1960 season . Of the 52 point games played during this time, he completed 29 matches, after which the 28-year-old was no longer represented in higher-class GDR football.
