Günter Barudio

Günter Barudio (born April 5, 1942 in Dahn ) is a German historian and author.

Barudio is the son of a farmer from the Palatinate and grew up in Fischbach . He completed a mining apprenticeship, worked as an oil drill, was a locksmith and machine fitter and, after graduating from high school, studied law, philosophy, Scandinavian studies, Slavic studies and Eastern European history in Frankfurt am Main in 1965 . In 1969 he was on a research stay in Uppsala and in 1973 he received his doctorate in Frankfurt. As a historian, he is a freelance writer. He lives in Frankfurt am Main.

He wrote an overall account of the time of absolutism and the Enlightenment in the world history of Fischer , a biography of Gustav II Adolf , books about the French Revolution, the history of oil and the Thirty Years War.

At the end of the 1970s he founded the publishing house Barudio und Hess and published a satirical magazine (Franco Furto), which only existed in 1979/80. In 1979 he published the book Deutscher Herbst by Stig Dagerman, which he had translated from Swedish .
