Günter Becker (politician)

Günter Becker (born May 6, 1954 in Oberwürzbach ) is a German politician and a member of the CDU .

Life

Becker was in the senior service of the general state administration from 1980 to 1982 and has been a graduate in administration since 1983 . He is married and has three children.

Political party

Becker was the founder of the Junge Union Oberwürzbach in 1971 and joined the CDU in the same year. From 1971 to 1990 he was a member of the Junge Union. From 1971 to 1975 he was chairman of the Junge Union Oberwürzbach and then from 1975 to 1977 chairman of the municipal association of the Junge Union St. Ingbert . From 1987 to 2006 he was deputy chairman of the CDU Niederwürzbach . Currently (2007) he is the local chairman of the CDU Niederwürzbach. From 1994 to 1999 he was deputy district chairman of the CDU Saarpfalz, since 2001 he has been again. From 1994 to 2004 he was a member of the city council of Blieskastel . From 1999 to 2017 he was a member of the Saarland state parliament and chairman of the committee for internal affairs, data protection, family, women and sport.

On October 14, 2014, Becker caused a scandal during a debate in the Saarland state parliament when he described critics of the Saarland refugee policy as "social romanticists and dirtiers".
