Günter Brandl (born August 6, 1962 in Regensburg ) is a former German soccer player . Since November 2019 he has been assistant trainer at TSV 1860 Munich .

Career

Brandl worked in several positions at the Upper Palatinate club SSV Jahn Regensburg . Initially, he worked for years as a trainer for the Jahn amateurs until he was hired on November 18, 2003 for the dismissed Ingo Peter as an interim trainer in the 2nd Bundesliga .

After two wins against LR Ahlen and Karlsruher SC , he was signed on as a coach on January 1, 2004. Up to the 27th matchday (2-1 win for Jahn against the favorites 1. FC Nürnberg ) it looked as if Brandl would keep the league with the club. At that time, his contract was prematurely extended by two years. From the last 7 games he was only able to get 3 points, which meant that SSV Jahn Regensburg was relegated to the Regionalliga Süd again . At the end of the season (June 30, 2004) they separated from him again. His record as a second division coach shows 6 wins, 8 draws and 8 defeats. He worked for a short time as a scout and coach of the C-youth until he was dismissed from the club. Brandl then trained for some time the women's soccer team of SC Regensburg , which played in the women's second division .

In the summer of 2007 Brandl began to train the Free TuS Regensburg , which he was already in charge of as a player-coach from 1994 to 1997. There he made his first club promotion to the Bayern League .

From March 2011 he worked as a trainer and sports director at SV Burgweinting and made it to the seventh-class district league. In the 2012/2013 season he made it to the middle regional league with Burgweinting. He also trained several youth teams at SV Burgweinting.

In the 2016/2017 season he coached FC Amberg in the Bayern League, but was dismissed in January 2017. Brandl then worked as a trainer for the district league team SpVgg Hainsacker. In November 2019 he switched to TSV 1860 Munich as an assistant coach , where he assists Michael Köllner .
