Günter Cronau

Günter Cronau (born March 16, 1931 in Siegen ; † September 7, 2012 in Arnsberg ) was the first city ​​director of the new city of Arnsberg.

Life

Cronau studied law and obtained a doctorate in law. jur. He was a member of the CDU. He was an administrative officer and, before the municipal reorganization in 1975, was a brief senior district director of the Arnsberg district . After the merger of the cities of Arnsberg and Neheim-Hüsten as well as the surrounding communities, he was the first city director of this new city of Arnsberg. He filled this position from 1975 to 1993.

In addition, Cronau volunteered for the German Red Cross and the Protestant parish in Arnsberg. From 1979 to 1991 he was chairman of the Sauerland Mountain Association (SGV). During his tenure in 1990, he organized the German Hiking Day and celebrated the 100th anniversary of the association. Later he was its honorary chairman.

He also wrote various mostly local history contributions. He wrote about the history of the SGV from 1965 to 2005. He also published an article on the SGV during the National Socialist era. He also put together the writings and diaries of Franz Keßler ( Franz Keßler - cross instead of swastika ).
