German hiking day
The German Hiking Day is an annual meeting of hiking friends from all over Germany. It is organized by the German Hiking Association. The German Hiking Day took place for the first time in 1883. It is carried out every year in a different hiking region. The decision on the venue is made by the delegates' assembly of the German Hiking Association.
Around 20,000 to 30,000 hikers regularly come to the host region for the German Hiking Days. A multitude of hikes and cultural events take place over six days, from Wednesday to the following Monday. The highlight is a pageant.
