Günter Fronzeck (born September 29, 1937 ) was a football player in the top league of the GDR league . There he played for SC construction / 1. FC Magdeburg , with whom he won the GDR Cup three times .

The defensive and defensive midfielder came to the GDR upper division club SC Aufbau Magdeburg in 1963 at the age of almost 26. He had previously played for the then second power in Magdeburg football, the Turbine company sports club. With her he had started in the fourth-class district league Magdeburg and between 1959 and 1962 made it twice as promotion first in the II. GDR League and then in the I GDR League .

Fronzeck achieved greater success with SC Aufbau and its successor, 1. FC Magdeburg. At the end of his first season at the club, he was in the final of the GDR soccer cup on June 13, 1964. As a left midfielder, he and his team won 3-2 over SC Leipzig . A year later, on May 8, 1965, the Magdeburg team were again in the cup final. This time they won 2-1 over SC Motor Jena , with Fronzeck in the central defense. The following season 1965/66 was bad for the now founded 1. FC Magdeburg, because in the end he had to relegate as bottom of the table in the second-rate GDR league . So after three years Fronzeck had to play again for a season in the second division, but returned with his team immediately after he had completed 26 of the 30 point games. After a respectable third place for a newcomer in the 1967/68 season, the Magdeburg team won the GDR soccer cup for the third time on June 1, 1969. Fronzeck played right defender in the 4-0 win over FC Karl-Marx-Stadt .

With its cup victories, Magdeburg had also qualified for the competitions for the European Cup Winners' Cup. During Fronzeck's active time, the club played a total of thirteen games, of which Fronzeck played ten games. The furthest advance at that time happened in the 1965/66 season, when 1. FC Magdeburg reached the quarter-finals. There Fronzeck was used in the two games against the English cup winner West Ham United (0: 1 and 1: 1).

When Fronzeck ended his active career at the age of 34 after the 1971/72 season, he had played a total of 201 competitive games for SC Aufbau and 1. FC Magdeburg. These included 137 games in the major league and 28 appearances in the GDR Cup games. As a defensive player, he only managed eight competitive goals.
