Günter Hoch (* before 1980 ) is an Austrian botanist and professor at the University of Basel .

Life

Günter Hoch studied ecology at the University of Vienna until 1999 and did his doctorate in botany between 1999 and 2002 under Christian Körner at the University of Basel . Hoch received his habilitation in Basel in 2009 . He works with Ansgar Kahmen and Erika Hiltbrunner in the “Physiological Plant Ecology PPE” research group.

research

As an ecophysiologist , his research interests lie in understanding the biological mechanisms involved in processes in plants and ecosystems . He combines experiments in-situ in the field with those ex-situ in the laboratory in order to gain better knowledge of the functions and processes under changing climatic conditions. His main research focus is on the relationships between tree carbon and the limitation of tree growth under climatic stress such as cold or drought .
