Ansgar Kahmen

Ansgar Kahmen (born December 8, 1974 in Karlsruhe ) is a German-Austrian botanist and lecturer at the University of Basel .

Life

Ansgar Kahmen studied botany , plant ecology and nature conservation biology at the University of Vienna , Austria and the University of California, Santa Cruz , USA. In 2013 he became Associate Professor for Physiological Plant Ecology at the University of Basel. He works together with Günter Hoch and Erika Hiltbrunner in the research group "Physiological Plant Ecology PPE".

Kahm's research focuses on the interface between plants and their environment . The aim of his work is to understand how plants function in the context of their environment and to show how plants shape the provision of ecosystem services .

Private

Ansgar Kahmen is married and has three children.

  • 2007: Eduard Strasburger Prize of the German Botanical Society DBG
  • 2011: Young Investigator Award of BASIN
  • 2012: Dr.-Karleugen-Habfast Award of the "German Association for Stable Isotope Research" (GASIR)
