Two days later he shot himself while fleeing from the German and French police in a hotel in Strassen, Luxembourg.

Life

Günter Hermann Ewen was a trained concrete worker . The man described as silent and sensitive had already started drinking at the age of twelve. He was noticed early on as a tensioner and exhibitionist . In 1993 he was sentenced to five years imprisonment for rape and coercion , three of which he served. Then he wandered aimlessly in the bar scene in Dillingen.

Ewen visited a disco in Dillingen on May 16, 1999. In the course of the evening he was expelled from the pub because he could not pay. He bought a pump gun and a magnum from a shooter friend . Then he went back to the discotheque, where he first shot the manager and a bouncer and then fired into the crowd. He injured eight people. He then killed a French-British couple from the neighborhood with multiple shots. The French husband had incriminated him as a key witness in a theft and fraud case earlier this year . However, Ewen had been acquitted at the time. The 11-year-old daughter was also seriously injured in this act.

He then drove to Sierck-les-Bains in France and shot and killed a 39-year-old father while trying to steal his car. During his escape, he robbed two cars and injured the driver of a car and a firefighter.

On the subsequent escape he fled to Luxembourg, where he hid from the police in a hotel. He took his own life there when the police approached.
