Günter Horn (diplomat)
Günter Horn (born June 10, 1930 in Dresden ) is a former German diplomat . He was ambassador of the GDR in the Laos DPR and in the Kampuchea VR .
Life
Horn learned the profession of baker and qualified as an engineer-economist . He studied at the German Academy for Political Science and Law in Potsdam-Babelsberg and graduated with a degree in political science. For a time he was an officer in the NVA and worked full-time in the SED . In 1965 he joined the diplomatic service of the GDR and initially worked as an employee at the embassies in Vietnam and Laos. Horn was ambassador to Vientiane from October 1978 to February 1981, and from June 1982 to February 1986 ambassador to Phnom Penh (successor to Rolf Dach ). From July 1989 to 1990 he was again ambassador of the GDR in Vientiane.
Horn is now honorary chairman of the German-Laotian Society (DLG).
