Rolf Dach (born January 19, 1934 in Helbra ) is a former German diplomat . He was the GDR's ambassador to the People's Republic of Kampuchea .

Life

After attending school, Dach completed an apprenticeship as a car mechanic . Until 1952 he worked in the Mansfeld Combine . He became a member of the FDJ and the SED . Until 1960 he was employed in the FDJ district leadership in Hettstedt . After attending the Institute for International Relations at the German Academy for Political Science and Law , he worked for the FDJ in Mali . Then he was a teacher and deputy director of the youth college "Wilhelm Pieck" .

After joining the GDR diplomatic service, he was First Secretary at the GDR embassy in Angola . From April 1979 to May 1982 he served as ambassador to the People's Republic of Kampuchea. Then he was sector manager in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the GDR until 1986 . From March 1986 to 1990 he was again ambassador of the GDR in Kampuchea.
