Günter Müller (trade unionist)

Günter Müller (born May 17, 1927 in Pößneck ) is a former German trade unionist ( FDGB ) and politician ( SED ). For many years he was chairman of the FDGB district association Gera and a member of the People's Chamber .

Life

Müller, the son of a working-class family, trained as a wheelwright and coachbuilder after elementary school from 1942 to 1944. He then worked in this profession until 1947. From 1948 to 1953 he was a blast furnace worker in the Maxhütte (Unterwellenborn) . In 1945 he joined the FDGB and in 1954 studied at the central school of the trade unions. Then he was BGL chairman in the Maxhütte (Unterwellenborn) until 1959 . In 1956 he joined the SED. From 1959 to 1962 he studied at the university of the trade unions "Fritz Heckert" in Bernau near Berlin . He completed his studies with a degree in social science.

1962/1963 he was chairman of the FDGB district association Saalfeld and from 1963 to 1965 chairman of the trade union committee in VVB Eisenerz / Roheisen. From 1965 to 1966 he worked as a party organizer in the Central Committee of the SED . He was then from 1966 to 1989 chairman of the district association of the FDGB in Gera . From 1968 he was a member of the FDGB federal executive committee, from 1982 he was also a member of the executive committee of the federal executive committee of the FDGB (each until 1989).

From 1966 he was also a member of the SED district leadership, from 1968 to 1989 member of the secretariat of the SED district leadership Gera.

From 1967 to 1990 he was a member of the Gera district assembly and from 1981 to March 1990 a member of the People's Chamber (FDGB parliamentary group).
