Günter Mirring (born March 1, 1938 ) is a former German soccer player. In the 1960s he played for BSG Stahl Riesa in the GDR Oberliga , the top division in GDR football .

Athletic career

In 1963, the 25-year-old defender Günter Mirring rose to the second-rate GDR league with the company sports association (BSG) Stahl Riesa . In his first second division season in 1963/64 Mirring was a regular player with 22 appearances and two goals scored in the 30 league games played. After he had only participated in two league games in the 1964/65 season, Mirring was drafted for military service in the National People's Army . It was not until the 1966/67 season that he played again for Stahl Riesa football, but only played three games in the GDR league. Also in 1967/68 he was not used in the majority of the point games, he only came to 14 of the 30 league games. In doing so, however, he was involved in the rise of the steel team in the GDR league. In the league season 1968/69 Mirring returned as a regular player in the team, was able to play 22 of the 26 league games as a defender and also scored one goal. In the first half of the season 1969/70 Mirring was only called up irregularly in seven league games and retired from the league squad at the beginning of the second half. Since he did not return to the top soccer leagues, his sporting record then showed 29 top division games (one goal) and 41 GDR league games (two goals).
