Günter Puttinger

Günter Puttinger (born November 3, 1942 in Linz ) is an Austrian innkeeper and politician ( ÖVP ). Puttinger was a member of the National Council between 1993 and 2001 .

education and profession

Puttinger attended elementary school and secondary school in Linz between 1948 and 1956 and then switched to the commercial academy , where he graduated from high school in 1961. Puttinger then studied at the University of World Trade and graduated in 1968 with the academic degree Dipl.-Kfm. from. Between 1970 and 1971 he made from the military service, in 1972 he graduated as Dr. rer. soc. oec.

Puttinger was HAK assistant between 1966 and 1968 and between 1968 and 1974 worked in organization and data processing at Erste Allgemeine Versicherung in Vienna. Between 1974 and 1978 Puttinger was sales manager of the Salzburg company Gießerei-Dienst GmbH for Austria and Eastern Europe and in 1978 took over the Sternbräu in Salzburg . On January 1st, 2006, he handed over the Sternbräu to his successor.

In 1998, Puttinger was awarded the professional title of Commercial Councilor.

Puttinger was chairman of the tourism section of the Salzburg Chamber of Commerce from 1988 to 1990 and chairman of the federal tourism section of the Federal Chamber of Commerce between 1990 and 1994. In 1994 he took over the presidency of the Salzburg Chamber of Commerce. Puttinger was also President of the Austrian Society for Applied Tourism Science between 1991 and 1995 and Deputy Chairman of Austria Advertising (ANTO) between 1993 and 1995 . In 1995 he was deputy chairman of the supervisory board of the Salzburg Exhibition Center Ges.mbH, and between 1995 and 1999 he was chairman of the "Salzburg Tourism Schools" association. In 1999 he was defeated by Christoph Leitl when he was elected President of the ÖVP-Wirtschaftsbund.

Between November 10, 1993 and November 30, 2001, Puttinger represented the ÖVP in the National Council. Between 1999 and 2000 he was deputy chairman of the ÖVP parliamentary club and from 1999 and 2001 chairman of the economic committee. He left the National Council voluntarily in 2001 in order to enable younger MPs to enter parliament. Puttinger was the tourism spokesman for the ÖVP parliamentary club.
