Günter Schwichtenberg

Günter Karl Friedrich Schwichtenberg (born January 31, 1942 in Cologne ) is a German physicist and university professor . He was married twice and has two sons, Thomas and Stephan. Now he's widowed.

In 1968 Schwichtenberg finished his studies at the University of Cologne as a theoretical physicist (graduate physicist). He then worked at the university's computer center . In 1979 he became head of the University Computing Center (HRZ) at the University of Dortmund until his retirement in January 2007. Since 2010 he has lived in Cologne again.

He has been a member of the Society for Computer Science since 1968 , in which he was particularly involved in the “Organization and Operation of Computer Centers” working group and in the development and maintenance of the “Dortmund Regional Group”.
