Günter Vogel

Günter Vogel (born December 11, 1934 in Pößneck ; † January 4, 2011 in Erfurt ) was a German doctor and professor at the Medical Academy in Erfurt . His specialty was hemostaseology .

Live and act

After high school and two years as a pharmacy assistant and auxiliary nurses studied bird from 1955 medicine at the University of Leipzig and the Medical Academy Erfurt, where he in 1962 with a thesis on human organ separating proteins by agar gel electrophoresis and immunoelectrophoresis doctorate . Vogel completed his training as a specialist in internal medicine with August Sundermann and completed his habilitation in 1968 on clinical and coagulation physiological examinations with p-aminomethylbenzoic acid .

Since 1972 he has taught at the Erfurt Medical Academy, which was dissolved in 1993, as a university lecturer, and since 1987 as a full professor . In 1990 he became acting director of the medical polyclinic of the MAE, in 1997 chief physician of the 1st medical clinic of the Erfurt Clinic . In 1999 Vogel retired, but worked for a few years at the University of Jena as a university lecturer. In total, he supervised five habilitation theses and over 80 dissertations.

As early as the 1960s, Vogel set up a hemostasis department in Erfurt, which was primarily dedicated to the care of hemophilia patients. In his own research, Vogel dealt with various hematological questions and especially with the connection between hemostasis and thrombosis . His last monograph was on the history of hemophilia.
