Günter Wendisch

Günter Wendisch (born December 21, 1944 ) is a former German football player who played in 1973 for BSG Stahl Riesa in the GDR Oberliga , the top division of GDR football .

Athletic career

Günter Wendisch played his first games in the GDR-wide football leagues in the 1967/68 season. He was used in fourteen point games by the second-rate GDR league club FSV Lokomotive Dresden . In the two following seasons he was part of the FSV player base, of the 60 GDR league games he played 47 games and scored three goals. For the 1970/71 season he moved to the top division Dynamo Dresden . There he was only called up in the second team, for which he scored two point game goals, but used only eight times. He was then drafted into the National People's Army , but was able to play all 22 point games in the 1971/72 GDR league with the Army Sports Association (ASG) Vorwärts Löbau . With his six goals he was the Löbauer's top scorer. After completing his military service, Wendisch joined the company sports community (BSG) Stahl Riesa. Their first soccer team had just been relegated from the league to the GDR league. In the GDR league season 1972/73 she managed after 22 point games and eight promotion games, the immediate return to the league. Wendisch was used in fifteen league games and all eight promotion round games. For the 1973/74 season Wendisch was nominated for the Riesa league team, but only got a chance when midfielder Christian Berger failed several times during the first half of the season. In its place, Wendisch was used between the 6th and 10th league matchday, after which he was no longer called up in the league. After the end of the season he returned to FSV Lok Dresden, where he was active for two seasons in the GDR league. In the 44 point games of this time, he was used 34 times. In the summer of 1976 he ended his career in high-class football at the age of 31. Within nine seasons he had made five league appearances and played in 138 GDR league games, in which he scored 15 goals.
