Günter Zschacke

Günter Zschacke (* 1936 in Naumburg (Saale) ) is a German columnist and author .

Life

Zschacke was born in Saxony-Anhalt. He studied German and English at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen , the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München and the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel . He volunteered at the Lübecker Nachrichten and worked for the newspaper from 1963 to 1998 as editor of the culture department. During this time he wrote three books, two of which were published by Schmidt-Römhild .

In addition, Zschacke was involved in various ways in Lübeck's cultural life. For example, he initiated the Lübecker Nachrichten Audience Award, awarded at the Nordic Film Days Lübeck , and in 1979 the “Concert Hall for Lübeck” initiative, which led to the construction of the Lübeck Music and Congress Hall , as well as the Furtwängler Award for orchestral musicians and the Fehling Award from the Society of Theater lovers.

In 2006 Zschacke published, also with Schmidt-Römhild, Encounters with the subtitle 40 years of cultural work for Lübeck , followed in 2017 by "Sounding Decades - The Lübeck Philharmonic 1997-2017", also with Schmidt-Römhild

Zschacke publishes on cultural topics in the magazine Die Tonkunst , in Klassik Heute , in the Lübeck Almanach Der Wagen , works for the radio and worked for the Lübeck city newspaper from 1998-2017 .

Awards

In May 2001, the mayor of Lübeck, Bernd Saxe, awarded Zschacke the silver commemorative coin of the Hanseatic city of Lübeck.
