Günther Bajog , (born December 1, 1927 in Dresden ; † February 13, 2006 in Castrop-Rauxel ) was a German writer who was best known for his Wild West novels .

Life

Günther Bajog studied after his apprenticeship, military service and captivity in Warnemünde and later worked as a designer in Oberhausen . Here he also started writing. In 1957 Bajog published his first Wild West novel , a book on loan , at Alka-Verlag in Cologne. Numerous other westerns followed for the then still prosperous lending libraries, but Bajog also began to work for the magazine publishers. From the 1960s, his Wild West novels appeared in different series under changing pseudonyms.

Apart from the pseudonyms mentioned, Bajog also used publishing pseudonyms that he shared with other authors. Most important here are probably his work under the name Jack Slade, which was published from 1972 in the Lassiter series . He helped shape the conception of the German series. The concept of this series originally came from the United States . Lassiter did not write Bajog alone, however. Dozens of different writers have worked on this series under the publishing pseudonym Jack Slade.

Günther Bajog is likely to have published well over 2,000 titles (including subsequent editions). With his work for the loan book, the booklet and the paperback, he was one of the most influential German-speaking western authors of the second half of the 20th century.
