Günther Czichon

Günther Czichon (born May 19, 1930 in Bremen ) is a former politician ( SPD ) and senator from Bremen.

biography

education and profession

After attending middle school, Czichon completed an apprenticeship as a machine fitter. He studied in Bremen and at the Technical University of Karlsruhe , where he received his doctorate in 1961. Ing. From 1956 to 1969 he was a design engineer, structural engineer and finally director at the machine and crane construction company Friedrich Kocks in Bremen. From 1970 to 1977 he was a director in Friedrich Krupp's group in Essen .

After the senatorial office, Czichon was chairman of the board of the Stadtwerke Bremen AG from 1984 to 1994 (from 1999: swb AG ). Under his leadership, environmental protection became part of company policy. The donation practice of Stadtwerke Bremen hit the headlines in newspapers and in front of a parliamentary committee in 1993.

Czichon has been a member of the SPD since 1947 . From 1967 to 1975 and then again from 1983 to 1984 he was a member of the Bremen citizenship . From 1975 to 1977 and from 1985 to 1994 he was also the Swedish honorary consul for the state of Bremen. In 1978 the President of the Senate Hans Koschnick (SPD) appointed him head of the Senate Chancellery . From 1979 to 1983 he was elected Senator for Federal Affairs to succeed Senator Karl Willms . He was followed in 1983 by Senator Wolfgang Kahrs (SPD).

Personal

Czichon was married to Monika Czichon (1938–2017) and has two children. The Czichons are both collectors of contemporary studio ceramics.
