Günther Dembski

Günther Dembski (born December 19, 1943 in Königstetten , Tulln district ) is an Austrian numismatist .

After graduating from high school in 1961, Dembski studied Latin, German, ancient history, archeology and ancient numismatics at the University of Vienna in St. Johann im Pongau . After receiving his doctorate in 1968, he became an employee of the Münzkabinett at the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna, where he was responsible for ancient coins. From 1995 until his retirement at the end of 2008, he headed the Münzkabinett. In 1988 he became professor for ancient numismatics at the University of Vienna, and in 1994 associate professor.
