Günther Erken

Günther Erken (* 1933 in Nordhorn ) is a German theater scholar and dramaturge .

Life

From 1972 to 1978 Erken held the professorship for theater studies at the University of Cologne and was director of the theater studies collection . In 1979 he turned to practical theater work and worked as a dramaturge for Hansgünther Heyme at the Stuttgart State Theater , and in 1985 he moved to the Bavarian State Theater in Munich. From 1991 he taught as a professor for theater studies at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich ; At the Bavarian Theater Academy he founded the dramaturgy course and supervised it until 2009.

The main research areas of his publications since 1962 include: a. Shakespeare , Schiller , Hofmannsthal , Ödön von Horváth and Tankred Dorst .
