Günther Willmann

Günther Willmann (born April 2, 1928 in Stuttgart ; † June 21, 2017 ) was a German radio presenter , radio journalist , local politician ( FDP ), theater actor , author and stadium announcer .

In autumn 1945 Willmann received an acting student contract at the New Theater in Stuttgart. From 1946 he belonged to the radio play ensemble of Radio Stuttgart. For the radio station he also worked as an announcer and speaker. Willmann took on his first major role as an actor in 1951 in the Stuttgart State Theater in the operetta Die Fledermaus as Prince Orlofsky. In 1952 Willmann became the stadium announcer for the then reigning German soccer champions VfB Stuttgart .

From 1957 Willmann worked for the Süddeutscher Rundfunk as a reporter and moderator. During the Cold War he collected impressions of border areas with the Eastern Bloc at the time for the SDR in the program Diary of the Zone Boundary . In the program Politischer Wochenbericht from Baden-Württemberg , Willmann reported from the state parliament and interviewed members of the state government and the opposition. He also moderated the broadcasts Funkfahrt ins Blaue , Klang and Sang from town and country , Among animals and animal friends and country and people .

In 1974 Günther Willmann joined the FDP , which he represented on the city council of Stuttgart from 1989 to 2009. Willmann handed over his job as stadium announcer for VfB Stuttgart to Werner Find in 1992 after 40 years. In 2003, Günther Willmann was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon by the then Federal President Johannes Rau .
