Gălpâia (outdated Gîlpîia or Gălpeia ; Hungarian Galponya ) is a village in Sălaj County in northwestern Romania. It belongs to the municipality of Bălan ( Blasenkirchen ).
Gălpâia is about 26 kilometers east of the small town of Jibou ( Siben ).
history
The place was first mentioned in 1350 as Galpuna. Other documented mentions come from the years 1462 ( Galponya ), 1473 ( Gelponya ), 1492 ( Kalponya ), 1602 ( Galponia ), 1733 ( Gelpèje ), 1750 ( Galponya ), 1760–1762 ( Galpönya ), 1837 ( Gelpuje, Galpija ) , 1850 ( Gelpije ), 1854 ( Galponya, Gelpiea ), since 1966 ( Gălpâia ).
