Bălan ( German bladder churches , Hungarian Almásbalázsháza or Balásháza ) is a commune in Sălaj County in Transylvania in northwestern Romania .
Geographical location
Bălan is located in the Somesch highlands ( Podișul Someșan ), in northwestern Transylvania. Located on the Almaş - a left tributary of the Someş - and the national road ( Drum național ) DN 1G, Bălan is around 18 kilometers south of the small town of Jibou ( Siben ); the district capital Zalau is 45 kilometers west of Bălan.
history
The place was first mentioned in a document in 1399. There are other mentions in the years 1454, 1520 ( Balashaza ), 1733 ( Balan ), 1750 ( Balásháza ), 1805 ( Balázsháza ), 1850 ( Belan ) and 1854 ( Balásháza, Bals ). The name of the village comes from Balan , originally a nickname of the people with blond hair.
