G. Pat Collins (* 16th December 1895 in New York as George Percy Collins ; † 5. August 1959 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American actor.

Life

George Percy Collins volunteered in 1917 volunteered for military service in World War I for the US Army. He began his acting career in the theater and was seen in ten plays in his hometown of New York on Broadway between 1922 and 1938 . Collins had his film debut in 1928 in the crime film The Racket in a major supporting role as a patrol officer. Two years later he was cast as Lieutenant Bertinck in the classic film In the West . In the rest of his film career, however, Collins was rarely able to build on these first minor successes. From the beginning of the 1930s, the character actor was given almost only minor supporting roles, often as a hard-nosed and strict police officer, officer or manager. These roles predestined him especially for crime films, westerns and war films.

When the United States entered World War II , Collins suspended his film career for five years and again volunteered. In total, he played in over 120 films by the year he died. In the 1950s, Collins also had around a dozen guest roles on television. G. Pat Collins died of cancer in 1959 at the age of 63. He was married to the silent film actress Billie Rhodes (1894–1988) from 1927 until his death.
