founding

The Cooperative of Workshops for Disabled People in North Germany eG is an association of workshops for disabled people (WfbM). It emerged from the merger of the two cooperatives gdw nord and gdw nbsa. Over 80 cooperative members from the northern federal states of Schleswig-Holstein , Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania , Hamburg , Lower Saxony , Bremen , Saxony-Anhalt and Brandenburg wear gdw nord.

Cooperative purpose

Gdw nord was founded with the aim of bundling forces, generating synergies and achieving success together with customers. This results in the priority to secure jobs for disabled people and to design them in a future-oriented manner. There are four core business areas: order management, environmental service, advice and training. The main task of gdw nord is to acquire contracts for workshops for disabled people from various industrial and service sectors as well as public institutions . In the case of large and supraregional orders, a contact person from gdw nord is responsible for order coordination and takes on the entire order management including logistics.

In the environmental service area, a network of WfbM offers high-quality recycling of old electronic (electronic) devices and the professional destruction of files and data carriers. Here electronic devices are broken down by hand in the workshops by people with disabilities into pollutant and recyclable material fractions.

What is special is that in addition to order management, further training and consulting services for WfbM and other social institutions are offered. Support is mainly provided in the areas of management systems, preparation for certification in the waste sector, occupational safety, destruction of data carriers, horticulture and hygiene.

Nationwide network

The three gdw organizations gdw north, gdw middle and gdw south are represented with their affiliated workshops throughout Germany. In this way, supraregional orders and projects that require a nationwide network can be implemented.
