The GM-V platform is an automobile platform designed for rear-wheel drive , on which various vehicles ( V- Cars ) by General Motors (GM) were built from 1966 to 2007. Platform V was developed in the 1960s at the GM subsidiary Opel in Rüsselsheim. The years of production were not without major revisions. In 2003, the last of these vehicles rolled off the production line in Europe, while the Australian variants were produced at Holden until 2007, before they were replaced by the models that were constructed on the GM Zeta platform . The first cars with the Zeta platform came in 2006. The remaining V-Cars were manufactured until 2007 with the letter “V” in the fourth position of the vehicle identification number . A completely independent platform "V" with front-wheel drive was developed in 1987 for the North American market and installed in a number of models from Personal Luxury Cars (PLC) such as coupés , see GM-V platform (1987) .
