GM-T platform (1979)
General Motors had developed the existing GM-T platform from 1973 , also called " T-Car " or " T-Body ", and changed it from rear-wheel drive to front-wheel drive . It was intended for self-supporting bodies in the lower middle class . The Opel Kadett D built on it appeared in 1979 and the Vauxhall Astra Mk I in 1980. This version added South Africa to the previous production locations for vehicles on this platform.
Other names and variants of this version are FWD-T , GM2700 and GM3000 , on which the Opel Astra G and Opel Zafira A as well as their versions and variants created in the badge engineering , partly under license.
The GM Delta platform replaced GM-T.
