Gabi Hauser (born February 19, 1958 in Zell am Ziller ) is a former Austrian ski racer . She won the overall and downhill classification in the European Cup in the 1975/76 season . Her siblings Thomas and Brigitte , like her daughter, were also ski racers.

Career

Like her siblings, Hauser began skiing at an early age. At the age of 15 she already achieved her first European Cup victory in the giant slalom of the Staufen Cup in Oberstaufen and second place in the slalom in Obertauern . Two years later she finished second in the giant slalom in Pfronten . Her achievements celebrated the Tyrolean in the 1975/76 season : With two wins in the departures of Szczyrk and Saalbach-Hinterglemm and third place in the second departure of Saalbach she won with nearly twice the number of points of second-placed Elfi Deufl the downhill standings and could thus the overall European Cup ranking will also win.

From the 1976/77 season, Hauser also started in the World Cup . In the following years she got several placements in the top 15, but never got into the points, i.e. in the top ten. 1978 Hauser was Austrian runner-up in giant slalom. Several injuries ultimately led her to end her career relatively early.

Her daughter Franziska Ploberger, born in 1985, was also a ski racer. In 2004 she became Austrian junior champion in slalom and won three FIS races .
