Gabriel Ananda , actually Gabriel Ananda Levermann (born August 3, 1977 in Bad Driburg ) is a DJ , producer and label operator in the field of electronic dance music from Cologne .

Career

Gabriel Ananda produces melody-heavy minimal techno in the middle tempo range, whereby the boundaries between the styles techno, house and trance in his music are blurred.

Ananda made his first musical experiences with the cello and the guitar. In 1995 a performance by the DJ Sven Väth inspired him to produce electronic music and become a DJ. In 1997 he released his first single "The Daylight comes and we don't want to go home" under the project name "Da Hairy Belafontes" on the Kassel label Hörspielmusik. In 2000, the First Comment EP on Utils and the EP For Love on his own label Karmarouge were first self-productions under the stage name Gabriel Ananda. This was followed by publications on the labels Utils, Karmarouge, Shot Records, Trapez, Plong !, Tonsport and My Best Friend. In 2004 Ananda's debut album Tai Nasha No Karosha was released on Karmarouge . His international career began in the same year when the single "Süssholz" became a club hit on the Cologne label "Treibstoff". He gained international fame through licensing on Sven Väth's mix CD "In The Mix - The Sound Of The Fifth Season" and first placement in Groove magazine .

This was followed by publications such as "Your personal happiness melody" (Karmarouge, 2005) and "Doppelwhipper" (Platzhirsch Schallplatten, 2006). In 2007 his second album "Bambusbeats" was released on Karmarouge. In 2013 he launched his DJ mix series "Gabriel Ananda Presents Soulful Techno".

Ananda rose to one of the most popular German producers of electronic dance music in the years 2000–2010, and his style is often mentioned in the same breath as his friend Dominik Eulberg . Ananda focuses on melodies, mostly of a pleasing and simple nature, which are accompanied by "full", multi-layered techno beats. The arrangements build up a constant change between the emphasis on beat and synthesizer melody.
