Gabriel Heim (born November 19, 1950 in Zurich ) is a Swiss publicist, author and film director.

Life

After graduating from high school, Heim studied history and journalism at the University of Zurich . 1974 to 1978 he studied at the University of Television and Film in Munich with a degree in television journalism and documentary film. He later participated in the founding of "orkus-film, Munich". Heim worked as a producer and author of documentaries and reports on behalf of the Bavarian Broadcasting Corporation and other ARD broadcasters. From 1985 he was editor and travel correspondent for Swiss television in Zurich. In 1992 he worked as a department head, television in the field of economic and social policy at Westdeutscher Rundfunk, Cologne. From 1996 he was head of program management, in 2001 Heim was program director of WDR television . During his tenure, the first program controlling of an ARD broadcaster was set up at WDR. A. Developed the programs " Zimmer Frei " and " Hart aber fair ". In 2003 Heim was elected founding director of rbb television by the Broadcasting Council of Rundfunk Berlin Brandenburg . In this role, he was also responsible for the merger of the broadcaster Free Berlin (SFB) and the Ostdeutscher Rundfunk Brandenburg (orb) to form rbb-Fernsehen (broadcast started on February 29, 2004). In 2008 Heim left the rbb to work again as a freelance writer and director. Heim has lived and worked in Basel since 2012.
