Gabriel Veron , with full name Gabriel Veron Fonseca de Souza (born September 3, 2002 in Assu , Rio Grande do Norte ), is a Brazilian soccer player who is currently under contract with Palmeiras São Paulo . The winger has been part of the Brazilian U17 national team since 2017 .

Career

Veron joined Palmeira's youth team from Santa Cruz de Natal in 2017. On November 14, 2018, Veron signed his first professional contract, which ran until 2021. About a year later, after his return from the U-17 World Cup, he agreed to a preliminary contract until 2024, which will become active on his 18th birthday. The release clause in the new contract should be 60 million euros.

Veron made his debut in the Campeonato Brasileiro de Futebol on November 28, 2019, when he played in the second half as a substitute for Willian Gomes de Siqueira in a 0-1 away defeat by Fluminense Rio de Janeiro . On December 5, after coming on as a substitute in the second half, he scored two goals and provided an assist in a 5-1 home win against Goiás EC . In doing so, he became the second youngest player to score a goal for the club.

National team

Gabriel Veron won the 2019 U-17 World Cup with Brazil . He scored a total of 3 goals and was voted the best player of the tournament.
