Gabriele Arnold

Gabriele Arnold (* the 30th January 1961 in Stuttgart ) is a German Protestant theologian and pastor and since 2016 Regional Bishop of the Prelature Stuttgart the Protestant Church Württemberg .

Life

Gabriele Arnold is the daughter of the Oberkirchenrat Walter Arnold . She studied Protestant theology in Tübingen , Mainz and Berlin and then completed her vicariate in Laichingen and Berlin. She then worked as a pastor in Hengstfeld , in various pastoral positions in Stuttgart and in Bad Mergentheim .

Gabriele Arnold has been the Regional Bishop of the Stuttgart Prelature since November 27, 2016. In an interview with the newspaper Stuttgarter Nachrichten on May 27, 2017, Gabriele Arnold supported the call for same-sex couples to be blessed in the Württemberg regional church. In June 2017, Gabriele Arnold announced that she would be the patron of the Christopher Street Day 2017 in Stuttgart. Both of these led to criticism in conservative circles in the Protestant regional church of Württemberg. Arnold received support from the Open Church discussion group and the Lesbian and Gay Association .

Gabriele Arnold is volunteer as chairwoman of the Protestant maternity homes in Württemberg.

Gabriele Arnold is married for the second time and has three sons.
