Gabriele Renate Inaara Princess zu Leiningen (* April 1, 1963 as Gabriele Homey in Frankfurt am Main , later Gabriele Thyssen ) was the wife of Karim Aga Khan IV until the final divorce in 2014 and during this time she was called Begum Aga Khan . She was born on April 1, 1963 as the daughter of Renate Kerkhoff and Helmut Friedhelm Homey as Gabriele Renate Homey in Frankfurt am Main . After the adoption by her stepfather Bodo Thyssen (grandson of Joseph Thyssen ) she took his family name.

After completing her education at the Schloss Salem School and the École des Roches , Gabriele Thyssen studied law at the Universities of Munich and Cologne , where she passed both state exams. She received her doctorate in 1990 on the criminal law protection of trade and trade secrets in the USA with special reference to federal law and the law of the state of New York .

During her studies, Gabriele Thyssen worked as an assistant to the management in her mother's company, the Wienerwald Group, and later for a German commercial law firm.

In 1991 Gabriele Thyssen married Karl-Emich Prince zu Leiningen (* 1952). After the birth of her daughter in April 1992, Gabriele Princess zu Leiningen became a UNESCO advisor in Paris on gender equality issues and against discrimination against women.

After the marriage with Prince zu Leiningen was divorced in 1998, Gabriele Princess zu Leiningen married Karim Aga Khan IV. , The 49th Imam of the Ismailis, in May of the same year and bore the title Begum Aga Khan during the marriage . Before she married the Aga Khan , she converted to Islam . Together they chose the Islamic name “Inaara” (from Arabic nūr = “light”). In March 2000 their son Aly Muhammad Aga Khan was born. Under the pseudonym Gina Boys , she took part in the German preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest in 1986 and performed the title Telefon , composed by Ralph Siegel , with Wolfgang Heichel as the group That's Life , with which she landed in twelfth and last place.
