Gabriele Seifert (born April 23, 1959 in Bad Rothenfelde ) is a German artist .

life and work

Gabriele Seifert began in Muenster, first in EMU studying philosophy, from 1979, she studied art at Wolfgang Kliege and the painter Ulrich Erben , a master student in 1984. After graduation, she moved in 1986 to Cologne and 1990 was a guest in the video class of June Nam Paik at of the Düsseldorf Art Academy . Since 1982 her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally in solo and group exhibitions. She is the mother of two children.

She works with the media of painting , collage , photography and video . She often stages individual works into complex room installations . In terms of content, she takes up cultural stereotypes in her work. These are aesthetically transformed and reinterpreted in such a way that aspects of the numinous can be felt behind the superficial phenomena.

The artist lives in Cologne.
