Gabriele Thome
Gabriele Thome (born May 24, 1951 in Karlsruhe ; † June 27, 2003 in Berlin ) was a German professor of classical philology .
Life
Gabriele Thome studied in Heidelberg and received her doctorate in 1978 under Viktor Pöschl on Mezentius . She worked on the Thesaurus Linguae Latinae and completed her habilitation in Munich in 1990. Her research focused on the values of antiquity. From 1994 she held a C3 professorship at the Free University of Berlin and was director of the Institute for Greek and Latin Philology for several years. Gabriele Thome died on June 27, 2003 after a short, serious illness. She was buried in the main cemetery in Karlsruhe .
