Jens Holzhausen
Jens Holzhausen (born June 22, 1963 in Berlin ) is a German classical philologist .
Life
Jens Holzhausen studied Classical Philology and Protestant Theology at the Free University of Berlin and at the University of Tübingen . In the winter semester 1992/93 he was at Karin Old and Carsten Colpe with the dissertation The myth of man 'in Hellenistic Egypt Dr. phil. PhD . For this typeface he received the Mommsen Society's 1995 Bruno Snell Prize . From 1995 to 2000, Holzhausen worked as a research assistant at the Department of Classical Philology at the Free University of Berlin. In 1999 he completed his habilitation with the study Farewell to Athens. A study on the Euripidean Orestes , which he published in two parts in 2000 and 2003.
After completing his habilitation, Holzhausen was a fellow at the Center for Hellenic Studies at Harvard University from 2000 to 2001 . From 2002 to 2003 he was again employed as a senior assistant at the Free University of Berlin, from 2003 to 2004 he represented the Graecist chair at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main . From 2004 to 2005 he completed the teaching traineeship in Erlangen and then taught Greek, Latin and Protestant religion at the Pegnitz grammar school . In 2008 he moved to the Gymnasium Fridericianum Erlangen . In the same year he took on a teaching position at the University of Bamberg , which appointed him extraordinary professor . In 2011 he received the German Teacher Award .
Holzhausen's main research interests include Greek tragedy , Platonism , Gnosis , Hermetics and early Christianity .
