The Gabrieli-Gymnasium ( GG ) is a music school in Eichstätt . The school is named after Gabriel de Gabrieli , who lived and worked in Eichstätt in the early 17th century.
history
The history of the Gabrieli grammar school goes back to the year 1274 as the Dominican monastery in Eichstätt . King Ludwig I had it set up in 1884 as the “Royal School Teacher's Seminar” . The name “Deutsche Aufbauschule” has been mentioned since 1935, and in the 1950s the name “Oberrealschule” prevails. Since 1965 the name: "Gabrieli-Gymnasium with student dormitory" has been tangible. In 1977 it became mixed sex. In 1980 the Free State of Bavaria bought the ruins of St. Peter's Church, which were converted into a school auditorium . After the inauguration of an additional modern new building, the number of students exceeded 1000 for the first time in 2011.
The entire historical ensemble is under monument protection with No. D-1-76-123-127 .
The school today
After various restructuring, extensions and renovations, the Gabrieli-Gymnasium now represents a modern, open all-day school that leads from the 5th grade to the Abitur . Around 50 students can be accommodated in several one, two to six-bed rooms all year round in the adjoining student home, and another 30 students can also use the day home. A variety of elective and leisure options are available; These range from beginner lessons to choirs, theater, dance, languages, carpentry, sports activities, to sailing licenses and also to the in-house jazz and rock'n'roll band.
Events
Every year around fifty events of the most varied colors take place after individual announcement, e.g. B. Summer party, Christmas concert and sailing camps. In the auditorium there is a functioning historical church organ that can be used for choir and concert performances.
An annual, one-week student exchange of the 8th grades with an English school, as well as a three-week exchange of the 10/11, will be regular to a limited extent. Classes organized with USA.
