Gadabédji is a rural municipality in the Nigerian department of Bermo .

geography

Gadabédji is located in the northern Sahel zone . The neighboring communities are Ingall in the north, Tarka in the east, Tagriss in the southeast, Bader Goula in the south and Bermo in the west. The municipality is divided into three administrative villages, eight hamlets, a warehouse and 18 water points. The main town of the rural community is the administrative village of Gadabédji.

In the north of the municipality is the Gadabédji Reserve , a 68,000 hectare nature reserve that was established in 1955.

history

The rural community of Gadabédji was established as an administrative unit in 2002 as part of a nationwide administrative reform in a previously community-free area in the north of the Dakoro department . Since 2011, the rural community no longer belongs to the Dakoro department, but to the newly created Bermo department.

population

At the 2001 census, Gadabédji had 3818 inhabitants. At the 2012 census, the population was 21,513.

politics

In the local elections in July 2004, Ngoulou Algoubass ( PNDS-Tarayya ) was elected mayor.

Economy and Infrastructure

The parish is located at the transition from a zone in which agropastoralism is practiced to the zone of pure grazing in the north.
