Tagriss is a rural municipality in the department of Dakoro in Niger .

geography

Tagriss is in the Sahel . The neighboring communities are Gadabédji in the north, Tarka in the east, El Allassane Maïreyrey in the southeast, Tchaké in the south, Guidan Amoumoune in the southwest and Bader Goula in the west. The municipality is divided into 76 administrative villages, 47 traditional villages, 61 hamlets and six water points. The main town of the rural community is the administrative village of Tagriss (also: Tagriss Guidanbakoy).

history

The French colonial administration established a canton called Soli Tagriss in 1947 , which was named after the villages of Soli and Tagriss. The main town of the canton was Soli. In 2002, as part of a state-wide administrative reform, the canton of Soli Tagriss became the same rural municipality of Tagriss, now with the village of Tagriss as its main town.

population

At the 2001 census, Tagriss had 34,053 inhabitants. At the 2012 census, the population was 53,925.

The community is located in a zone where agropastoralism is practiced.
