Tchake is a rural municipality in the department of Mayahi in Niger .

geography

Tchaké is located in the Sahel zone . The neighboring communities are Tagriss in the north, El Allassane Maïreyrey in the east, Mayahi in the south, Attantané in the southwest and Guidan Amoumoune in the northwest. The municipality is divided into 26 administrative villages, 47 hamlets and five camps. The main town of the rural municipality is the administrative village of Tchaké.

history

Before the arrival of the French at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, Tchaké was part of the independent state of Katsina . The rural community of Tchaké emerged from the north-western part of the Kanan-Bakaché canton in 2002 as part of a nationwide administrative reform . In the flood disaster in West and Central Africa in 2010 , 133 residents of Tchaké were classified as disaster victims.

At the 2001 census, Tchaké had 29,000 inhabitants. At the 2012 census, the population was 40,502.

Economy and Infrastructure

The community is located on the southern edge of a zone where agropastoralism is practiced.
