Maiyara is a rural municipality in the department of Dakoro in Niger .

geography

Maïyara is located in the Sahel region . The neighboring communities are Kornaka in the north, Attantané in the northeast, Sarkin Haoussa in the east, Saé Saboua in the southeast, Chadakori in the south and Sabon-Machi in the west. The municipality is divided into 69 administrative villages, one traditional village, 16 hamlets and four camps. The main town of the rural community is Maïyara.

history

The rural community of Maïyara emerged from the southeastern part of the canton of Kornaka in 2002 as part of a nationwide administrative reform.

population

At the 2001 census, Maïyara had 40,196 inhabitants. At the 2012 census, the population was 62,441.

Economy and Infrastructure

The community is located in a zone where rain-fed agriculture is practiced.
