Chadakori (also: Shadakori ) is a rural community in the Guidan Roumdji department in Niger .

geography

Chadakori is located at the transition from the Sudan to the Sahel zone . The neighboring communities are Sabon-Machi and Maïyara in the north, Saé Saboua in the southeast, Guidan Sori and Tibiri in the south and Guidan Roumdji in the southwest. The municipality is divided into 103 administrative villages, one traditional village, 85 hamlets and 26 camps. The main town of the rural community is the administrative village of Chadakori.

history

Chadakori was founded around 1816. Since 1953 the seat of a canton chief has been located here, an office carried out by a traditional local mayor ( chef traditionnelle ). The rural community of Chadakori emerged from the canton of Chadakori in 2002 as part of a nationwide administrative reform. During the hunger crisis in Niger in 2005, Chadakori was one of the hardest hit places. Here the population had less than one meal a day available.

At the 2001 census, Chadakori had 69,765 residents. At the 2012 census, the population was 108,711. In Chadakori mainly members of the Hausa subgroup Gobirawa , as well as Katsinawa , Fulbe and Tuareg live .

Economy and Infrastructure

The community is located in a zone where rain-fed agriculture is practiced. National Road 1 runs through Chadakori , which is part of the international Dakar-N'Djamena Highway .
